Gradius III (Japan) — Widget Mod Patcher v2.11

Adds a numeric lives counter and a loop/stage display, a pause feature, a skippable ending, and stage skip without the original's DIP combination — all switched on by DIP SW3:4, so the board goes back to stock behaviour without swapping ROMs. Also fixes a lockup present in the original ROM.

残機数の数字表示、周回・ステージ表示、ポーズ機能、エンディングのスキップ、およびオリジナルの DIP 設定の組み合わせを必要としないステージスキップを追加します。これらは DIP SW3:4 で有効化されるため、OFF にすれば ROM を差し替えずに純正の動作へ戻せます。オリジナル ROM に存在する不具合（動作停止）も修正しています。

Either revision works — the patcher works out which one you have from its checksum. Drop both files of a pair.

どちらのリビジョンでも使えます。チェックサムから自動で判別します。ペアの両方をドロップしてください。

After patching. MAME will report the patched files as WRONG CHECKSUMS and warn the machine may not run correctly. That is expected: it is how you know it loaded the patched ROMs rather than an unmodified copy from a parent/merged romset. The game's own ROM check is recalculated and still passes, so it keeps working as a diagnostic.
パッチ適用後について。MAME はパッチ済みファイルを WRONG CHECKSUMS と報告し、正常に動作しない可能性があると警告します。これは想定された動作です。親セットやマージセットからの未改変 ROM ではなく、パッチ済み ROM が読み込まれた証拠になります。ゲーム自身の ROM チェックは再計算されており、診断機能として引き続き機能します。

使用する MAME ロムセット

These names moved. In MAME 0.270 and earlier, gradius3j was the OLD version; on current MAME it is the NEW one. This patcher names the correct romset for whatever it just built — follow that, not an older guide. Deploying under the wrong name can silently run an unpatched parent set instead.

これらの名前は途中で入れ替わりました。MAME 0.270 以前では gradius3j が OLD 版でしたが、現行の MAME では NEW 版です。 本ツールは生成した ROM に対応する正しいロムセット名を表示しますので、古い資料ではなくそちらに従ってください。 誤った名前で配置すると、警告なしに未パッチの親セットが起動されることがあります。

On a real PCB

実基板で使用する場合

Burn the two patched files to EPROMs of the same type as the originals and fit them in the same sockets. Check pin 1 orientation before powering on. The mod is enabled by DIP SW3:4: off is a stock machine, on makes the features available.

パッチ済みの 2 ファイルを、元と同じ種類の EPROM に書き込み、同じソケットに取り付けてください。 通電前に 1 番ピンの向きを必ず確認してください。本改造は DIP SW3:4 で有効化されます。OFF では純正と同じ動作、ON で各機能が使用可能になります。
